For years, patients in the region have faced prolonged travel distances, delayed scans, and heightened medical risk due to limited access to advanced diagnostic facilities. The new initiative is set to significantly alter this reality by introducing a state-of-the-art Revolution™ Aspire Select Computed Tomography Scanner at SSCASRH, expanding the hospital’s diagnostic capabilities across multiple specialties including neurology, cardiology, oncology, trauma care, and emergency medicine.
The project is expected to benefit thousands of patients annually, particularly those suffering from life-threatening conditions such as stroke, trauma injuries, and cancer, where timely diagnosis is critical for survival and treatment outcomes. The enhancement strengthens the hospital’s ability to deliver rapid and precise imaging, thereby supporting faster clinical decision-making.
Access to advanced diagnostic imaging has remained a persistent challenge for underserved communities in Odisha. Patients have often been compelled to travel long distances or endure extended waiting periods, resulting in delayed treatment and increased health risks. Project Swasthya Kiran directly addresses this gap by decentralising high-end diagnostic services and bringing them closer to communities in need.
The initiative has been implemented through a partnership between Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited and The Art of Living Social Projects, formalised under a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru, in the presence of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Guided by his vision of compassionate service and holistic well-being, the collaboration integrates advanced medical technology with community-focused service delivery.
Under the initiative, diagnostic access is expected to improve significantly by reducing travel time and waiting periods, ensuring faster imaging during medical emergencies such as stroke and trauma. The project also aims to make advanced diagnostic services more affordable by localising CT scan facilities, thereby reducing financial burden on rural and underserved populations. Additionally, it strengthens emergency care systems by enabling quicker and more accurate diagnosis, facilitating earlier medical intervention and improved patient outcomes.
Beyond emergency response, the upgraded diagnostic infrastructure is expected to enhance clinical efficiency across a wide range of medical disciplines. Faster imaging will assist medical professionals in making more informed treatment decisions, improving continuity of care, and reinforcing SSCASRH’s role as a key healthcare institution serving Cuttack and surrounding regions.
